A Bangladeshi man slashed a woman’s face with a sharp object in a shopping mall at Damansara Jaya, last Thursday, resulting in a 5 centimeter gash from her upper lip up to her right cheek
The 24-year-old woman was then rushed to University Malaya Medical Center(PPUM) to receive treatment and is reported to be stable but shocked by the whole incident.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din told, after receiving her treatment she was allowed to leave the hospital next day and proceeded to lodge a police report against the assailant.
Following the information provided by the woman, the suspect was apprehended last Friday.
Early investigation concluded that the suspect, in his 20s, is believed to be the woman’s ex boyfriend.
Further investigations are taking place to narrow down the motive of the attack. The Bangladeshi man is remanded for 7 days since the day of his arrest.
