Here we go again, the next installment of the Galaxy S line is closer than it ever was. The brand new Galaxy S9 and S9+ are set to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on 25th February 2018.
With the launch of the much awaited successor to the S8 and S8+ so close, leaks are pouring it about the specification and design of the these devices. Some are far-fetched, and others are on the mark. Here are most of the confirmed rumors leading to the release of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
This might be a bummer to many of you out there because Samsung have decided to stick with their old design but with slight tweaks here and there. The bezels of these phones are expected to be smaller than the S8s’ and the edges are smoother for a firm, comfortable grip.
Good news for the headphone jack lovers, as Samsung did not cave into the whole “Apple did it, so we must to” situation(I’m talking to you, Sony). You can still ask for the aux cable in your friend’s car unlike some other phone users.
If you don’t know what that means, that’s okay. It’s when two sets of speakers on a phone produces sound simultaneously. One at the bottom of the phone and the other would be that tiny speaker on the front the phone, the one you always hear your mom shouting “ah boy ah! why so late??!“. Stereo speakers are great for watching videos and playing games, you wont feel like you’re going deaf in one ear anymore.
The previous position of the fingerprint scanner on the S8 was next to the camera lens and some Samsung users were waiting for their phone to unlock while placing their finger on the camera. lol! So, this time Samsung decided to move the fingerprint scanner below the camera lens. This would definitely solve the issue. Definitely.
Recently a programmer found a hidden code in Samsung’s Android 8.0 Oreo software that leads to something called the “Intelligent Scan” which combines the iris scanning technology and facial recognition for a more reliable security system. Apple’s rival they said, well said.
The screen sizes on both the s9 and S9+ is going to be the same, 5.8 inches on the smaller one and 6.2 inches for the plus variant. Resolution stays the same as well, at 2560 x 1440 with the same Super AMOLED panel.
Since there’s two variants we’re going to split this section.
Super Speed Dual Pixel 12 Megapixel primary camera with F1.5 and F2.4 switchable apertures. Both apertures can technically work together, creating beautiful ‘bokeh’ shots. What’s amazing is, Samsung found a way to implement this system in a single camera module and would be the world’s first to do so.
Like the previous model it comes with dual cameras, Super Speed Dual Pixel 12 Megapixels F1.5 and 13 Megapixels F2.4 apertures are heavily speculated.
Both cameras could record up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second and super slow motion videos in 720p at 960 frames per second.
This is how 960 fps looks like:
Front facing/selfie camera
Both phones would have an 8 Megapixels selfie camera with auto focus.
There will be two version of processors used for the S9 and S9+, a United States variant(Snapdragon 845) and an international variant(Exynos 9810). Lucky for us, the international version is marginally better than the US version. They both have 8 cores, consisting of 4 high performing cores and 4 low performing cores.
Snapdragon 845: 4 2.8GHz and 4 1.7GHz
Exynos 9810: 4 2.9GHz and 4 1.9GHz
Galaxy S9 : 4GB
Galaxy S9+ : 6GB
Battery life for both models stayed the same as the S8 and S8+.
Galaxy S9 : 3000mAh
Galaxy S9+ : 3500mAh
This concludes the rumors circulating the next ‘latest and greatest’ by Samsung. Overall, it looks like a solid phone that would give it’s competitors a run for their money.
