According to Belanjawanku Guidebook, which was launched by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) with the cooperation of Social Wellbeing Research Centre (SWRC) of Universiti Malaya, it contains monthly minimum budget for multiple goods and services that are needed for every household to live comfortably.

EPF Chief Executive Director, Tunku Alizakri Alias said, this is not a prescription to resolve all problems but it is more of an overall guideline.

The guide contains estimated budget that includes food, housing, health, transportation, utilities, savings, self-care, annual budget, social activities and other expenditures.

“Married couples without kids need around RM4,420 where else married couples with one child need around RM5,730 and RM6,620 for couples with 2 children.

“Besides that, senior citizens who are living in the Klang Valley, need to have a budget of RM3,090 every month to accommodate their daily life in the city.”

The Belanjawanku Guidebook can be downloaded for free from the EPF website or obtained at any EPF counter in Klang Valley.
