Manhunt following a violent attack, that took place in a lift at the Cheras MRT station on Valentine’s Day, finally came to an end when the suspect was arrested last night at 8.10pm.
The 26-year-old local man was apprehended at Taman Cheras by officers from the Serious Crime Division(D9) of the Cheras Police Headquarters and is set to be remanded today morning when the court begins its session.
The man can be seen rocking a new haircut, presumably to avoid being identified by the authorities but failed miserably.
In a video that went viral, the suspect can be seen viciously attacking the 48-year-old woman as soon as the elevator door closes and then run off with her wallet which contained her IC, ATM card and RM400, while she was left on the floor of the lift.
The woman had to receive treatment for the injuries she sustained on her forehead and body after the incident.
