Women-tracking app downloaded more than one million times in Saudi Arabia from the Apple and Google Playstore.

Absher is an app developed by the Saudi government which is currently available on both the Google Playstore and iTunes store.

This app allows men to control the movement of their wives or women under their care on where they can go and for how long they are allowed to be there. Also which airport they can go to.

If the app records any suspicious behavior, it will alert the guardian so they could be apprehended for their actions.

This makes it difficult for Saudi women whom are trying to flee the country.

Naturally, woman rights group around the world, prominently from the West, are condemning the app and the treatment of women as properties in Saudi Arabia.

Apple and Google have also been criticized for allowing such an app to be make available for the public.
